Frequently Asked Questions
Booking and Pricing
How do I book a session?
Booking is simple – head to the Contact page and fill out the form with your details and preferred dates. I’ll get back to you within 48 hours to confirm availability and discuss the details of the shoot.
What are your pricing packages?
My pricing is flexible depending on the type of shoot. Portrait sessions start from £250, and travel/editorial commissions are quoted based on scope. Event photography starts at £500 for half-day coverage. Custom packages are also available.
Do you offer payment plans?
Yes – I’m happy to arrange payment in instalments for larger shoots or events. A 25% deposit is typically required to secure your booking, with the balance due before final delivery.
What is your cancellation/rescheduling policy?
Life happens. Cancellations made more than 7 days in advance will receive a full refund of the deposit. For shorter notice, the deposit is non-refundable, but I’ll always try to reschedule where possible at no extra charge.
What is included in the session fee?
Session fees typically include planning and consultation, the shoot itself, post-production editing, and delivery of a curated online gallery. Travel beyond a 20-mile radius may incur an additional fee.
What is your turnaround time for photos?
You can expect your photos within 2–3 weeks, depending on the size of the shoot. For events or larger projects, it may take up to 4 weeks. I’ll always provide an estimated timeline when we book.
Photography Style and Approach
How would you describe your photography style?
My style is natural, candid, and editorial in nature. Whether I’m shooting portraits, travel, or events, I focus on authentic moments, beautiful light, and storytelling through imagery.
Do you have a portfolio of past work I can see?
Absolutely – please visit the Projects section of the site to explore our galleries, featuring travel, portraiture, and editorial commissions.
Are you experienced in photographing portraits?
Yes – I’ve photographed a wide range of subjects, from intimate family shoots to large-scale events and international travel commissions. If you have a question about something specific, please don't hesitate to ask.
Do you have experience with low-light conditions?
I’m accustomed to working in a variety of conditions – from golden hour light to indoor low-light events, harsh midday sun, and everything in between. I’m also happy to scout or advise on locations.
Do you work with a second photographer?
For most shoots, I work solo. For larger events, I can bring a trusted second photographer – this is quoted on a case-by-case basis.
Do you have insurance?
Yes – I’m fully insured with both public liability and professional indemnity cover.
What is your process for post-production and editing
I carefully select and professionally edit each image for colour, exposure, and mood, staying true to the natural aesthetic of the shoot. I don’t do heavy retouching unless specifically requested.
Image Usage and Copyright
Who owns the copyright to the photos?
As the photographer, I retain copyright to all images as standard. However, you’ll receive a licence to use the images for personal or agreed-upon commercial use.
Can I share the photos on social media?
Yes, of course! I love seeing my clients share their images – I ask that you credit me where possible.
Can I print the photos?
Yes. Your online gallery includes high-resolution files suitable for printing. I can also help arrange professional prints if you prefer.
Do you offer digital packages for personal/commercial use?
Yes. All sessions include digital downloads for personal use, and commercial licensing is available for editorial, branding, and other professional purposes.
Can I sell the photos to a third party?
No, third-party sales are not permitted under the standard licence. If you need commercial rights, get in touch, and I can provide a usage agreement.
Logistics and Practicalities
Do you travel for shoots?
Yes – I regularly travel across the UK and abroad for photography work. Travel fees apply for locations outside of Somerset, and I’m happy to provide a quote for international work.
What is your availability?
I book up quickly, particularly in spring and autumn, so I recommend getting in touch 4–6 weeks in advance, where possible. Short-notice bookings may be available depending on the season.
Do you have backup equipment?
Yes – I always bring backup cameras, lenses, and memory cards to ensure your shoot runs smoothly, regardless of the circumstances.
What happens in case of bad weather?
For outdoor shoots, we can reschedule or pivot to a sheltered location. I’ll be in touch 24–48 hours in advance to check the forecasts and confirm a plan.
Do you have a studio, or do you shoot on location?
Most of my work is on location – whether in natural settings, urban spaces, or client homes. I can arrange access to a local studio on request.
